Pop into Museo de Antioquia
The museo the Antioquia is within Plaza Botero. Hence, you can visit both places in the same day, using the same metro ticket. Most of the Botero paintings are here. However, you will find many exhibitions from local and international artists. Museo de Antioquia is one of my favorite museums. Because, it’s a well organized museum, you’re able to see the entire museum in one day.
The museo de Antioquia is open every day of the week. Locals pay 12.000 foreigners pay 18.000 – approximately $4.2 & $ 6.3 usd respectively. However, they don’t work on the donation system.
Celebrate Feria de flores
The yearly flower festival brings people from all over the world to witness the pageantry of flower making. However, the pictures don’t do the festival Justice.
The 2018 dates are confirmed. Feria de flores 2018 starts the 29th of July. And ends the 7th of August. Each day has multiple events. However, the can’t miss event is the desfile de silleteros. Desfile is parade and silleteros are pieces of art made of flowers. See below.
Ride the Metrocable
Riding the Medellin metro and MetroCable. Whether you’re visiting or living in Medellin, one of the coolest things you must do is ride the MetroCable. The Metrocable or teleférico in other Spanish speaking countries. Cable car or gondola in English.
The first step in riding the metro is purchasing your ticket. Each station has a ticket booth. As of 2018 riding the Medellin metro and MetroCable will cost you 2.400 Cop. Approximately .84 cents.
Spend a day at the Jardin Botanico
A breathtaking place. Furthermore, the Jardin Botanico always has something going on. For the latest news and information click this link. During feria de flores the jardin botanico truly transforms. Many of the exclusive parties are held there during feria de flores.
Go back in time visiting Pueblito Paisa
Pueblito Paisa is a replica village built on Cerro Nutibarra. Visiting Pueblito Paisa takes you to a simpler time. However, if you leave the city of Medellin, most towns still maintain this traditional look.
Destroy your diet eating Bandeja Paisa
Your diet will suffer. However, one bandeja paisa won’t kill you. Although, it will leave you in a food coma. Most people don’t eat this on a regular basis. The bandeja paisa comes out in special occasions. And when you have guest from other cities or countries coming over. It’s like the good china your mother never takes out unless your cousin from London is visiting.
The funny thing is. Good luck finding a place selling the bandeja paisa.
Become a scientists at Parque Explora
Parque Explora is in the northern part of the city. However, it’s easily accesible via the metro. While designed for small kids, large adults will also enjoy Parque Explora. Furthermore, for all it has to offer the ticket prices are very affordable.
Parque Explora is perfect for families with small active children. However, they won’t want to leave.
People watch in Parque Lleras
The 4 best locations to people watch in Parque Lleras are;
- Ay Caramba
- In the park sitting on the steps
Visit any of those above places. And you will see Parque Lleras in all it’s glory.
During the day you will see people walking into restaurants. However, at night as the saying goes – the freaks come out at night. It’s nuts. Hence, grab a seat and watch as life happens.
Blow shit up playing Tejo
Do you like making these go boom? While drinking and playing with gun powder? Then you will love Tejo! My buddy Chris will show you how it’s done.
